Soil and Water Conservation Nexus Agricultural Productivity in Ethiopia

چکیده

Soil and water conservation practices contribute to long-term agricultural sustainability sustainable agriculture. This review examines the primary agronomic their role in soil conservation. The revealed that Ethiopia's significant are strip cropping, mixed intercropping, fallowing, mulching, contour plowing, crop rotation, preservation of tillage, agroforestry. A difference was found between conserved nonconserved land terms chemical physical properties, organic matter, total N, available phosphorous (P), bulk density, infiltration rate, texture. non-conserved had lower rate with higher clay content, P. matter content positively correlated it negatively density. Cation exchange capacity (CEC) pH undulating lands were moderately suitable for rain fed plant canopies, litter, mulching intercept by decreasing amount, intensity, spatial distribution precipitation reaching surface, protecting surface from direct impact raindrops can cause splash sheet erosion. In conservation, this practice is than others because crops leguminous woody perennials improve enrich conditions through atmospheric nitrogen fixation, litterfall dead decaying roots, nutrient cycles, modification porosity, contribution rates. It also relieves maintains salinity, alkalinity, acid, retention problems. To increase table moisture, based on trapping as much possible storing (intanks) or allowing sink into soil. Even where storage pans dug, they small cannot keep premises afloat when drought lasts days, have done recently. strongly recommended productivity measures promoted an integrated approach which farmers intensively involved every implementation stage.

Migration, Youth, and Agricultural Productivity in Ethiopia

This paper explores the relationship between migration and agricultural productivity in Ethiopia. Given that there are fairly significant returns to either rural-urban or international migration for labor in Ethiopia, it could be that credit constraints hindering migration start-up are an unexplored constraint against migration. The paper primarily uses the Ethiopia Rural Household Survey panel...

Farmers’ health and agricultural productivity in rural Ethiopia

This paper estimates a stochastic production using household survey data to analyze the relationship between farmers’ health impediments and agricultural production efficiency in Ethiopia. The results show that healthy farmers produce more per unit of inputs, earn more income and supply more labor than farmers affected by sickness. The model results show that production inefficiency increases s...

Farmer Perceptions of Soil and Water Conservation Issues: Implications to Agricultural and Extension Education

Many concerns exist today in rural and urban sectors about the threat to natural resources because of the problems agricultural production practices are causing, i.e. use of chemicals affecting the quality of life (Padgitt, 1987; Hallberg, 1986; Baker, Kanwar & Austin, 1985). Through the use of chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides farmers are able to produce a reliable source of aff...

The Nexus of Interest Rate Deregulation , Lending Rate and Agricultural Productivity in Nigeria

The study examined the nexus of interest rate deregulation, lending rate and agricultural productivity in Nigeria by employing co-integration and error correction techniques on annual data spanning 1986 to 2009. Nigeria has embarked on several agricultural policy measures aimed at repositioning and enhancing variables that affects the sector’s productivity. The findings from the study showed th...

Arsenic Tracking in Iranian Rice: Analysis of Agricultural Soil and Water, Unpolished Rice and White Rice

Since rice is a staple food most consumed world-wide, there have been increasing health concerns regarding exposure to arsenic through rice consumption. Several studies have reported the accumulation of arsenic in rice grains cultivated in regions with elevated levels of arsenic in groundwater or contaminated soil. Therefore the principal aim of this study was determining the amount of arsenic ...
